How Does the Paciflo Pacifier Work?
If you’ve heard about the Paciflo pacifier, you may be wondering what makes it different?
The answer comes down to its design.
Unlike many traditional pacifiers with a rounded nipple, Paciflo features a flatter shape that is designed to encourage a more natural tongue position during sucking. This supports the way babies coordinate the tongue, lips, and jaw while still providing the comfort they need.
Why does that matter?
From birth, babies are developing the foundational patterns they use for feeding, swallowing, and breathing. These patterns are influenced by how the tongue and jaw work together during everyday activities. The paciflo promotes forward movement of the jaw similar to nursing. In the first year of life, the jaw grows 18mm (14mm the first 6 months of life). Many infants have recessed jaws which can lead to airway problems. While no pacifier determines development on its own, design can play a role in supporting more natural movement patterns during this stage.
