Your normal breathing volume intake is 4-6 liters of air per minute (during rest), but some people who breathe through their mouths or have improper mechanics have a drastically increased breathing volume, known as overbreathing.

Overbreathing results in disproportionate amounts of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the blood, which reduce the oxygenation of tissue and organs, including the brain. Some symptoms of overbreathing and mouth breathing include anxiety, sleep apnea, asthmatic flare-ups, hyperactivity, inflamed tonsils and adenoids, and more.
